From: Lake Good Afternoon: Earlier this week we sent notices urging our customers to purchase more Alpers Trout to insure the 2011 Fishing Season Opener would be a successful one. We did so, in light of this year’s stocking hold up due to the DFG will be voting on an item that WILL impact our area and the entire state. Phase 1 if passed, in a nutshell, each owner, operator or concessionaire will be responsible to do an Environmental Impact Report to evaluate for 87 species of concern. The EIR?s will be done by a biologist, not DFG, at the owner, operator or concessionaire’s expense! Currently, there is no such company or biologist in the area qualified to do these EIR?s. This means if you, the County or Grandpa Bob want fish next year in any body of water whether on your property, County property, LADWP property, BLM property or on USFS land, there will have to be an EIR done. Should there be any one of the 87 species of concern (this includes: plants, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals), you will not be permitted to stock fish. Should the DFG Commission pass this critical vote next month, it will impact the entire state, not just Inyo and There is a group, the Thank you, Timothy P Alpers Managing Partner Inland Aquaculture Group LLC Lake Sabrina Boat Landing IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN WATCH OUT FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS ONCE THEY HAVE THEIR EYE TO THE LENS THEIR BRAINS TEND TO DISENGAGE & ARE APT TO WANDER INTO THE ROAD! OK, it appears Mom Nature is having a bit of fun again. A bit of s-n-o-w here a bit of warm weather there, oh and don’t forget the w-i-n-d. It’s definitely FALL. The Once again this week’s catching was good. Pretty much the same was working at the Inlets – jigs, PowerBait, and NightCrawlers continued to bring in limits. Trolling with flashers and a NightCrawler, an olive WoolyBugger, or Red and Gold Thomas Buoyant (sort of sounds like last week’s report, doesn’t it). Drifting over the shore (which is starting to show) between the two natural lakes with NightCrawlers and PowerBait not only brought in some nice limits, it’s also very relaxing. Shore anglers are using Salmon Eggs, NightCrawlers and PowerBait. Mike and Yvette Townsend of Valley Center had limits using PowerBait in the morning, while Mark Shields of Santa Barbara landed a beaut of an Alper, a 5 ¼ pounder using a fly. SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY SATURDAY Like I said last week – It’s that time of year, summer-fall/fall-summer. It appears this week we’ll have a bit of summer again, but just a bit cooler. Highs are expected to be in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s. REMEMBER the campgrounds tend to be a bit cooler as the chilly air settles in the pockets down by the streams. It’s very strange how the same temperature feels a whole lot colder when that FALL nip arrives. You can check www.weather.gov and enter WHEN YOU COME TO THE EVEN IF IT?S 100° IN BISHOP! Well, the nippy weather came in with some strong breezes this weekend. Not sure if it’s the nippy fall weather or just some isolated nippy weather, but it felt pretty darn nippy this morning. Rick even cranked up the wood stove to keep us women-folk warm. Rick and I did see some fall colors over in the Deep Spring and Fish Lake Valley areas this past week, so not sure what that might mean for our area. There is a handful The catching remained good despite the w-i-n-d. You all should know the scoop by now. But just in case, in the inlets Salmon Eggs, NightCrawlers, PowerBait and jigs. Those trolling are using flashers and a NightCrawler or just an Olive WoolyBugger, Lures with a bit of red, or a NightCrawler (DON’T FORGET THAT SWIVEL). Drifting and enjoying the scenery while using PowerBait or a NightCrawler, or from shore fishing with Salmon Eggs, PowerBait or NightCrawlers also working well. The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake on Thursday with another very nice load of fish. THANKS DFG! The Ladman Family made good on those stockers taking many home for dinner. Sunday morning the temperature was a balmy 41 degrees with a slight breeze ? wind chill temp ? 35 degrees. Highs for Sunday were expected to be in the mid 50s. That was the lows during this past week. We did here of some snow flurries in Mammoth and the Rock Creek area and even at Well, the suckers have gone back to the depths of the lake to feed the browns. All USFS campgrounds are still open. The price this year to camp at the This cool weather should take care of the rest of those pesky skeeters, at least let’s hope so! Remember your polarized dark glasses and sunscreen.
